Chris

Excellent posting.

Showed your email to my mate who owns a rather large Panel Beating ( Smash Repair ) business here is Penrith Australia. Has over 15 panel beater working for him. His opinion " Do you want a job come on down. " A lot of his work is the restoration of older cars and collectables of which he has a good reputation. He admits that whilst people would insist on such detail as you espouse, often customers wont pay the piper to so such a detailed job. But a true enthausist working on his own venicle would go to any lengths to get it right the first time. His one final remark find the source of the leak and fix that first. Kind of like painting the inside of the house without the roof being on.
