Subject: Re: Speaking of rust... How to seal this?

sorry to bother you again. It has come to my understanding that this is the front bottom of the sliding door. What i would do, is to first stop water infiltration. To do this , I would caulk the plastic plug that is used to adjust ther sliding door(see bently). Then, I would remove allllll the rubber weather striping from around the sliding door and gob vasoline on all of the rubber and let it sit in the sun for a day or two(SO. CAL. would b best),.This will cause the rubber stripping to expand(considerably) and may plug up any opening that the old rubber missed, allowing that evil water to enter.Next ,check the junction of the floor and passenger rear seat "pedastal".If you see rust here,it is time to pray. You must grind grind grind rust away(or move to so. cal.)This area is over a frame crossmember and access is muy poor,so grind, POR-15,and apply some kind of wax based undercoat via spray at zeibart to the affected underside area. After all this take a vacation to so cal.Too much snow here.Good luck, Roger Sisler
