Reference your writers article:

http://www.registerguard.com/news/2005/03/13/ed.col.duy.0313.html

If you are going to mention a specific vehicle in an article with reference to a less than favorable characteristic make sure it is one of the worst and not one of the better for that year..

True the 72 vw bus is not as clean burning as many of todays "smaller" vehicles but in 72 it was one of the better vehicles on the road for any size.

Your writer seems to forget that 72 was still the year of the gas guzzling 7 mile per gallon muscle car. The 72 vw bus with a full load even today still gets 15 mpg around town.

That 15 mpg is actual mileage and not the supposed mileage of many current SUV on our streets. Recent tests have shown most of these to be severely overrated by as much as 20 percent under current EPA test stand rules. Which is why the EPA has finally announced that changes need to be made in their mileage will vary sticker declarations.

Please have your writers research their data better. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• jimt Planned insanity is best. Remember that sanity is optional. http://www.tactical-bus.info (tech info) http://www.westydriver.com
