Subject: Adding a furnace (watch out for the thermostat type)

Was finishing up a furnace installation and started to get strange problems. My aux battery suddenly was down to 8V two mornings in a row. My one pound propane that I was using for pressure testing of new propane lines and connections was empty as well.

I started all the usual trouble shooting for leaks and shorts and found nothing. Set it up again and this time checked it in the middle of the night. Just as I walked up to the van the furnace kicked on.

When adding a furnace and thermostat, make sure the thermostat has an off position that is actually off. DonΉt think that putting the adjust all the way to the bottom will work when temperatures drop to the twenties and lower. With some testing I figure it was trying to keep my van at 30 degrees all night with a window open.

I have now installed an on/off switch in the line. Battery no longer depleted and propane still in tank in the morning. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• jimt Planned insanity is best. Remember that sanity is optional. http://www.tactical-bus.info (tech info) http://www.westydriver.com
