The local dealer *likes* vanagons, does good work and will take your parts instead of using their own if you ask (no warrantee on what you bring, obviously). NOt the norm, but nice to have.

I take my 83 to the VW dealer in Sault Ste Marie Canada (the closest one to where I live in northern Michigan) and I love those guys. It is my daily driver in the summer, but they will work on MY schedule- if I have it there at 1 when they get back from lunch, it goes on the rack for tune-up, oil change right then. None of this "bring it in at 8 and leave it, we'll get to it sometime." The same mechanic always works on my van, so he knows it, they will use my parts if they have trouble getting them or I can get them cheaper. When I ask them to check all the belts and hoses, they never try to sell me things I don't need. Sometimes I think the labor is a bit pricey, but to me it is worth it to have someone I know and trust working on my van.

Never regret. If it's good, it's wonderful. If it's bad, it's experience. Victoria Holt
