So I buy a Westfalia for $2000 and put $2000 more into it. In my case I'll do the work myself, so I'm looking at $2000 in parts. Any decent Westy is worth $4000, so it's not like I'm throwing my money away.

Having said that, I bought my '84 Westfalia for $2500 in June '04 and have put... $280 into it since. I fixed fuel leaks around the tank, replaced the broken front swaybar link, put a new muffler on it, and installed a set of E4 Ciebie headlights with relays. I've taken it to Florida three times and NC thrice as well. I blow a huge hole in that law, don't I? I guess I know how to pick them! :-)

My previous '85 Westy must have been an exception as well.

Chris S.
