I just acquired some OEM 14" wheels with 205/70R14 tires on them and was about to embark on the same task for my 84 Westy.

I have looked at BusDepot and Vanagain and did not find info about longer wheel studs very readily. I also looked at GoWesty and VolksCafe. Both have some good information. Volkscafe has the 65mm studs for the rear hubs. (but currently out of stock) This requires taking the rear drums off to get to the hub and bang the crap out of the short stock studs to replace with these. I have not yet tried to see if the stock studs are too small for the stock mags, I suspect that they are.

You do not need to change the rear studs when using the OEM VW CARAT alloy wheels on a Vanagon. You do need the correct nuts and bolts for the CARAT wheels though. You can get the correct ones in chrome or SS rather than the plated OEM ones which get all corroded after a while. I have them listed on my _Vanagon Items Forsale_ (http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/sales.htm) webpage but you should be able to pick them up locally at any good automotive wheel shop.
