Subject: Life after speedometer
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

When I parked my 85 Westfalia last fall the trip odometer had just bit the dust, never mind the four broken screws that attach the speedometer to the whole cluster. The snow is starting to subside so today I removed the entire unit for further inspection. I noticed that I was able to reset the trip odometer when I pressed the bar attached to the gears, and that the black plastic reset button had become separated from whatever it was connected to. It has no 'spring' in it but doesn't seem broken.

Is this too good to be true? Does that odometer reset button somehow attach to the bar? Maybe it isn't broken after all?!

Thanks Jeff 85 Westfalia GL 69 Type III notchback Winnipeg
