Subject: A little traveling music ... Siriusly
Content-type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

My wife and I recently returned to Maine from a trip to Louisiana. In that there was no time to camp this trip, we took the 2000 Beetle instead of the Westy. The Westy has Sirius hardwired to the head unit ... but the one we have in the Beetle is the "Transmit over FM" type.

The "Transmit over FM" receiver worked great in Maine and many other places ... BUT ... there were areas where we had interference on all 10 of the FM frequency choices. For that reason, I found it to be a real pain at times.

One positive thing to say about that type is that while Mary was driving, she didn't want to listen to "Radio Classics" (The Shadow, The Green Hornet, Diminsion X, Inner Sanctum, and such) so I let her control the Beetle's receiver/CD player ... turned on the Sirius and used a portable radio with headphones to listen to those.

Do I like Sirius? ... You bet! Would I get another where I have to use the transmit over FM feature? ... Not likely. I wish the Clarion that I have had a tape player adapter available. I don't think the 2000 Beetle has a provision for plugging in "Aux" things, and I'm not ready to put in a more versatile after market unit just yet.

Siriusly yours,

Mike
