Entity Robert Cardo spoke thus:

> And here lies the key to your retort. > Climb into your oil burner and get away from Santa Fe. > Take a trip north east, or just east, or maybe north to Montana, or > Wyoming. > > You'll soon find you, and your Van out of touch with the real world > Dorothy. Sorry Robert, I just don't believe it and never will. I bought this Vanagon in Spokane WA where is sat parked for 6 years. Vanagons are rare indeed there, but despite this being a diesel I was able to rebuild the engine, get all parts and drive it to New Mexico without a problem.

> Drop out of the Emerald City and you best have your AAA , the plastic, > and the cell phone all paid up and ready to rock and roll. I don't know what you're talking about. Seattle is the Emerald City and Santa Fe is the City Different. I have never needed a towtruck and never broke down on the side of the road.

> It's a pretty sad situation where you have to stay close to home, or > have a directory of where, and whom will perform surgery on your vehicle > prior to beckoning out beyond your safety bubble. Mine must be a large safety bubble, last year I drove round trip from Santa Fe to New York City with nary a hiccup. Cheap too!

> Neat vehicles. > Fun to drive. > > But don't go too far. People like you... and the OP of this discussion... try not to be offended now... y'all need to admit that y'all lack the SKILL to manage an unruly German machine. I believe Larry Chase has explored this issue publicly. So quit yer yellow-bellied whining and learn how to build a Vanagon like the Germans intended it to be.
