Joy,
We'll be there... again (already have my tickets). Not exactly a "Vanagon" camp, but we did have 3 last year.
Here's a pic of our camp:

And then there was '03:

If you're looking for a plethora of VW buses, try:

Either way, a good time is guaranteed for those with open minds.
Cheers,
Jeff

Hey, it's Friday, I can send mildly irrelevant email!
I miss you all!
I've been out of my van for a while now, and it's really a drag. In January I had to head east for a family shindig, which was fun, but it was cold, and I couldn't stay in my van. Then I had two weeks to kill - noodled around NJ and WashDC, even spent two (lovely) days at an inn in Cape May. But too cold for staying in my van, so I had to (mostly) crash with friends. Then to NY to work on The Gates, which was truly wonderful. (It's not on my website yet, but see www.christojeanneclaude.net/tg.html if you're curious.) But I had to leave Matilda (with a completely seized-up transmission) with Ken Wilford down in Millville NJ, which is where she still is.
A week ago I left NY and came back to Egypt. Paid employment is a good thing, but I miss Matilda! Fortunately, Ken was happy to take care of her while I'm away, so she's still down in south Jersey hanging out with all other nice vanagons at Ken's place, and recuperating from her transmission transplant, and generally getting back into shape (with lots of help from Ken).
I'm going to be in Cairo till mid-April, and now it's looking like I may go from here to Malawi. More paid work, can't turn it down, but I want to go back to my normal life on the road with Matilda!!! (Okay, so I realize that "normal" is all relative...)
You probably weren't wondering at all, but that's why I haven't been posting in an age.
When I get back (around May 10, I think), I'm hoping to head west quickly, get to Yellowstone before Memorial Day (everyone has told me that's essential - not to go there after Memorial Day, I mean) and then travel into Canada, to the coast, and down the west coast. I can't wait!!!
On a completely different note - is anyone organizing a Vanagon encampment at Burning Man? If my schedule doesn't get messed up (i.e. if I don't get stuck with more paid work that I can't afford to turn down), I'm hoping to get there this year. I'd love to be part of a Vanagon group, if one's in the offing. Frank, you going back this year? Anyone else?
At least there's lot of old VWs in Cairo, they all look so friendly.
Joy
