> But Stan, I don't think this would do any good. The oil companies don't > have their prices set by the government, they have their prices set by > supply--usually--and demand--lately. ------------------------------ Clip ------------------------------------ With some experience of previous gas shortages it appears that reducing the speed limit back to the old 55 mph should put more people in the air (Possibly saving a few airlines and 100,000 jobs). Other than that it would immediately reduce out national fuel consumption by as much as 20% in highway travel. I think that China, India and everybody else should get their share of gas from whomever is willing to sell them the crude or the finished product. Along with the burgeoning love affair with the automobile in many countries I've noted a marked increase of Attorneys immigrating to China, Korea and India. So more automobiles in other countries might be good for America. Stan Wilder Engine Ceramics 214-352-4931 www.engineceramics.com |
