Why do we care about fron axle/ rear axle weights? Not to be argumentative, just enlighten me! Al Brase --------------------------- i would be intrested in it because it gives a idea of front to rear weight distribution. vw claimed almost 50-50 front to rear on a vanagon. some speculate that this is why 2wd vanagons perform worse in the snow/offroad than the bay window buses. buses supposedly have a rear weight bias. the following is from a recent posting on the Type 2 list for a 78 westy: I weighed the bus on the scale at a metal scrapyard once. The bus weighed in at 3500 lbs (w/two spare tires and me on board). Front axle was 1640 lbs. Rear axle was 1860 lbs. That's 47/53 with driver on board. jonathan |
