Check inside your brake drums (or at least check your brake fluid level). I actually found a leaking rear wheel cylinder from rear-wheel noise. Brake dust + fluid formed 'drops' of deposits on inside of drum, this made a pinging/grinding kind of sound as they passed the shoes. Stepping on brakes quieted the sound. YMMV, of course... but if someone had told me I could find out about a leaking rear wheel cylinder by *hearing* it, I'd have thought they were nuts.
