Subject: Head Update (yes even worse)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Greetings all,

For those that have not been tracking, replace the heads (engine at about 90K) with a pair of rebuild heads. One side ok the other is not.

I took the suspect head to the local machine shop for a water test and it turned out bad. On top of that they told me that the valve guide were not in correctly (how long will the other side last?) Peering in the exhaust port you can see the bad spot, with the valves out it would be hard to miss. Well.

I call back to where I got them and they called the shop and the ship called me and I thought things were worked out in getting a head ASAP. Then I got a call from the "guy", and I could tell by the way the conversation started out that he was calling to piss me off and avoid all blame (that's why I took it to an independent shop in the first place.) Well apparently according to him they don't have problems like this (as far as I can tell that is true 50% of the time) and after a long explanation he said that they couldn't ship one out until they got the first one back and verified the problem. Furthermore, this was an industry imperative not to send one out before verifying the problem (what a crock) because he gets back heads that don't belong to him.

I tried to call back later and they weren't answering their phone.

How would you handle this?

Jere
