Chuck, I'd say keep your diagnosis simple, you've removed the battery now check the ignition switch (it's a little plastic switch on the steering column). Then start working around to the starter. I have a hard time believing your starter would just stop working without any pre-warning. When I have a problem I look through the parts at the online retailers and see what they are selling as these are most likely the parts that fail.

I'm sitting in my garage helpless....I've confirmed that my 10 mo old Interstate batt is at 100% There isn't any crank at all - starter doesn't turn or make any noise...need help....does this Dx indicate it's time to replace the starter...Thanks...Chuck
