Hi Tom,

I'm sorry about the confusion. My friend called it the hall unit, but I just looked in Bentley and it is the idle stabilizer unit (mounts to the 'firewall' on the left side of the engine).

So, if you or anyone out there has an idle stabilizer unit that will work for an 81 Calif. model Vanagon, please let me know.
