Hi Volks,


I recently bought a 1988 Vanagon GL automatic which the PO told me had
a seized engine. It's parked at my Dad's place... this morning he was
having a look at it and decided to try turning the key. The starter
engages and turns the flywheel, but the engine does not turn over.


Is this potentially a simple problem with the flex plate, starter, TC
or flywheel; or is it more likely that the PO is correct and the engine
is toast?  I might be able to spare some time to look at it over easter
weekend and was wondering what I should tackle first.
