I have a 1984 Vanagon Camper. My air intake boot keeps slipping off of the connection on the top that leads to the air filter. (I know, that's super technical) I think the rubber has expanded over time due to heat perhaps? The boot is new as of September and just recently started coming off after a couple of long trips to the coast. This of course makes the van stall out and not run, loss of vacuum I believe according to list archives. It doesn't seem to help to just retighten the clamp. Is there a way to add something that will create a seal between the metal and the rubber, create something for the boot to grab onto as I tighten the clamp? I guess it wouldn't be a good idea to use an epoxy, as it does need to come off for various repairs etc. Being an older van, the engine tends to shake slightly and the boot just keeps coming off.
