Old fuel line seals and pump diaphrams and tank sealants are actually dissolved by alcohol. This includes injector internals of some types. This was discovered by a Canadian fuels study, a California study (primarily on MTBE effects) and by a VW study for the Brazilian Gvt. Almost all of those issues were gone with cars made in the late 80s and early 90s. Just about all US made vehicles were already being made with seals and hoses and other items projecting the use of E15 to E25 in all vehicles. That program never went to completion though. European cars were being fitted at that time also because of programs in europe. The catch is that we are using vehicles with hoses and seals that may not have been replaced with more modern ones. E85 is on quite a few pumps here in colorado denver area. jimt Planned insanity is best. Remember that sanity is optional. http://www.tactical-bus.info (tech info) http://www.westydriver.com |
