Did you change the oil right before the test? I had an inspection guy tell me that you shouldn't right before an emission test. Apparently, when you put in a fresh batch of oil it slops around and knocks off new gunk from the engine which can cause a marginal vehicle to fail. My mechanic told me that emissions tests aren't too big a deal for most VW's--my 87 Westy passed w/ flying colors here in Tx. If you haven't changed out your O2 Sensor in a while, I would start w/ that (or find a more friendly inspector ;-) good luck, James in Houston |
