Subject: Re: how do I test the fuel pump? Who sells fuel pump cheap?

Maybe try Ebay motors-vehicle parts and accessories-type in Vanagon. They usually have a few fuel pumps -new and used. Before you replace, do change filter and maybe use a coat hanger to ram out the steel fuel outlet line in the gas tank.Judging from the resistance to the coathanger, there is a sock tied on the outlet, inside the gas tank.Had to ram many times to remove this sock. Plugged up? I think most pumps are replaced prematurely. I had a '85 w/pump noise-in a new pump! The PO had replaced it and still had noise. The solution was to ram out the outlet.Pump replacement is straight forward, but be aware that many new pumps use eyelets to make electrical connections(cheaper pumps) as opposed to stock push on connectors. You will have to convert these.
