Tomas,

One solution is to send the gas tank out to be cleaned(acid dip), usually to a radiator shop.If the rust is really bad and doesn't clean well, the next step is to have them coat the inside with some kind of plastic. This costs more than the standard clean, and takes a few extra days to cure...but lasts a long time(forever?) and usually has a good guarantee.
