Got the starter back today, and just finished reinstalling it. Finally after 2 years, 4 starter removals, plenty of foul expletives, it works. It's kind of funny that I had to insist that the bosch dudes actually replace the parts they did. This is a good example of how a starter that bench tests perfectly can potentially not work when installed!
