I am trying to chase down a short that arises somewhere in the line of fuse nine of the main fuse panel. It draws current when the fuse is in. I am OK with the fuse out. Yesterday I tried to trace down the wires originating from fuse 9 and one leads to the emergency flasher switch and the other to the instrument panel plug that plugs in below the tach. If I unplug that plug then I am OK (no current flow), but that supplies the current to the panel. I guess I have a couple of questions: 1, could the clock be enough of a power draw that that is what I am measuring when I measure current flow across the fuse. If this is true then it shouldn't be enough to drain the battery over a week or two, which is what happens; 2, is it possible that I have a real short somewhere in the panel??? How would I ever find it/ trace it down? Are there panels out there for sale?? Fuse 9 is the only fuse in which there is a current draw when I remove the fuse and measure the draw across the fuse holders. Any one out there that is surprised to find a hot lead that goes to the instrument panel when I can find evidence of it in the Bentley? All Bentley says is that fuse 9 services the flasher and the radio, at least this is what I see. Any help would be much appreciated. Don |
