So it sounds like the firewall fitting is pretty unanimously agreed upon to need replacement. Personally, i know i'll be looking into that. The jury is still a bit out on the engine lid, but at that point it is almost too late...

What other plastic bits should be replaced? The later model fuel rails are plastic... are those junk? I happen to have both versions, with the metal ones installed in the van.

What else is there? I'm just trying to make a checklist of where i stand:

* fuel lines - 2 years old, bought from volkscafe, including new clamps (short injector hoses about 2 months old) * fuel rails - metal * firewall fitting - original (?!?) * engine lid cover - fiberglass

I also like the idea of the aeroquip hoses... sounds like it would be a good kit for a list vendor to make and sell. I'm sure i would upgrade in a couple years when it is time to replace again.
