The fridge on the westy was changed 3 times (at least). The original in the aircooled had a gauge to show combustion status, that needle was changed to an LED, then the fridge was changed further in later models to include self ignition.

Above was admittedly very brief synopsis :-)

What might have clouded the issue was the basic camper package on some of the early models that had an icebox (not fridge) a sink, but no stove. The rear seat went full across and formed an "L" with a seat facing sidways just to the left of the icebox/sink cabinet.

I actually think that this was pretty neat set-up as if it provide a full widht rar "couch" to kick back on and stretch out and read. Also it is often hot to cook inside the van. My next Westy dispenses with all that stuff. Think I'll miss the sink, but I got a couple ideas for that.
