Subject: FS: 85 Vanagon for Parts/Repair, $14k invested, PA. (NOT Mine)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

A local (Philadelphia/Allentown/Reading, PA area) individual is selling a blue '85, 4-speed passenger Vanagon for parts or repair. He literally spent $14,000 on this van - everything from a new 2.1L (not 1.9) engine to curtains, carpet, headliner, tires (reinforced, I believe), mirrors, you name it. Basically he gave Lehmanns Auto, a local Vanagon specialist who does top-notch work, a blank check and told them to make it like new (mechanically and interior wise; they don't do body work), and for $14,000 (!!!!) they did. He says he has receipts for every dollar of it. 800 miles after he picked it up from the shop with the restoration completed, someone ran a stop sign. The van has now been sitting for a couple of years and still needs a new front clip. He wants $2500 or best offer, including a AAA-Plus tow (80 miles, I think?) on his AAA card. He does not want to part it out; he wants to sell it complete. Although this is a lot for a parts van, given all of the new parts that are on it, it sounds like a nice deal for the right person. The engine alone is worth almost the asking price (and he might take an offer; he is in the military and being transferred, so he must sell it soon).

His name is Mario, his email address is mario.sanchez@tobyhanna.army.mil, and his number is 1-570-856-2311. This is NOT my van. I have not seen it and am only repeating what I was told. Please contact the seller, not me.
