More secure from coat hangers, but still conveniently broken... I replaced a total of three non-moving vent windows on my '87 VW Fox during the first two years I owned it (drawbacks of having a new car in an urban area). I remember getting really angry when someone broke in by bending the metal below the door lock... "that's what the vent windows are *for*, ya stinkin' amateur!".

Me, I prefer the moving windows, it's the feature I miss most when driving more modern machines...and if your van doesn't have air conditioning (like I've got horsepower to spare for *that*! :-) they're needed for basic summer survival.
