Greg, Fabled Vanagon syndrome refers to a fuel injection fault which cases the vehicle to buck. You're thinking of the dreaded 3-4 slide syndrome, which causes the shifter to hang up when shifting between 3rd and 4th gears. Saints be praised - you have neither.
