Subject: got them clean!! Re: cleaning coffee out of seats....ideas??
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

thanks to all who offered advice. the solution was simple. (*but read the note below)

1) remove seats from van 2) set them on the driveway and scoot them off with the hose, till you see clear water flowing out. (i was literally watching the coffee pouring out of the seat while i did this..)

simple.. didnt cost me anything. they look brand new.. now i have some soaking wet seats that will take a few weeks to try out but.. yea well. :<) i'll put them in the heated basement w/ fan blowing on them to speed up the drying process.

**NOTE:...i did not soak the seatback.. just the seatbottom... if you get the seatback wet - you MUST remove the armrests, or they will sieze up/rust on their pivots, and you will not be able to move them!!! i have seen it happen before..usually on junked vans where the windows have been down for a long time.. the outboard armrests are ususlly rusted to the shaft. anyway, if you are going to get the whole seat wet - remove the armrests and then lightly oil the shafts before re-installing them once the seat is dry.

for those of you who your van is your ONLY car..(not most of us here..we arent that dumb LOL) then do not resinstall a soaking wet seat into your van until its dried out to the point where its not dripping water anymore, for the same reason...it may rust the seat rails to the tracks..siezing the seat up on the tracks

thanks everyone :<) chris
