Subject: Rear Wiper Motor/Pump - no juice
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Seeking the wisdom of the list on this one.....

Vehicle: 1991 Vanagon Carat, Automatic - Pwr Windows, Central Locking and Cruise Control. Standard two-speed front wipers, rear wiper and pump.

Recently installed driving lights -- this involves tinkering with the fuse box, installing a relay, etc. This is relevant because my rear wiper and pump no longer work.

Checked the relay (has a 72 on it), it clicks intermittently -- even removed the cover and I can see it engage. What I'm thinking is that somewhere I

pulled a connector loose.

I removed all of the plastic rivets (buy the tool -- or you'll mostly likely break the backboard) - got the wiring of the motor itself. It has two wires feeding it (Black/Gray and a Black/Green) plus a ground. No voltage seen at any time on either wire.

So, any ideas on where to look on this one? Are there some connections in the wire bundles in the dash in proximity of the fuse block? My skills at reading the Bentley wiring diagram are poor at best (if there is wisdom on this, please let me know), but it would appear that lead 53 provides the voltage to the wiper motor and pump -- I cannot figure out how it does the intermittent thing -- and I believe that the wires to the rear wiper motor and pump are in the middle bundle plug on the rear of the fuse block.

OK - so now I'm officially rambling... any feedback is sincerely appreciated!

Thanks!

-Robert
