whats the speedo in? MPH or KPH? do the front turn signals have a little "notch" out of them between the screws and no reflectors? does the drivers doorjamb sticker say "this vehicle confirms to all USDOT regs for the date of Manufacture"?

European market Westfalias were badged as "transporters" but the ones destined for US markets were badged as vanagons, even if they were sold in europe.. all westys have the "incomplete vehicle manufactured" as part of the drivers doorjamb sticker..as the bodies were built by VW in Hannover and then shipped, incomplete, to Westfalia weidenbrück to be made into the campers.

prolly the orig owner just stuck a transporter badge on there, while he was over there touring in europe after he bought it in europe, if everything else meets US spec. i got some cool euro badges the last time i was in europe.. just walk into a vw parts dept and buy them..

my ex '86 westy was also purchased in europe, spent the first 4 yrs of its life over there, and then was shipped over to the states in '90. it was badged as a vanagon, like all US market vans.

chris who has a SA "microbus" badge on his vanagon..
