Subject: The strange transmission noise
Content-type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1"

The noise in my van that I finally isolated to my transmission (suspecting shaft bearing) went away again for a couple days. This left me suspicious of where the noise was from. Listening with a stethoscope and there were no strange noises at all at the bearing area but the shift area and not the shaft area of the transmission had a strange sound. Got very confused again if I was in the right area or not. I now believe it is the right area. It is now popping out of 4th and the noise is back and can be positively isolated to the shift area of the transmission. I now believe I have a transmission with 190k miles on it that is just worn out.

This transmission problem brought out something I hadnt done in years and probably should have started with. The simple stethoscope!! if I had isolated that noise with the stethoscope a few weeks ago I could have been ahead of the game ordered a new transmission at that time. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• jimt Planned insanity is best.
