I have a Oct 79 ASI Riveria converted vanagon camper..

ASI had to have ordered early to get a early chassis to convert in WA
state.

1 june 79 was the production start of "incomplete" vehicles for the
vanagons.  Production of wheels and other items would have to have
been
completed before that date for the production to begin.
