Does anyone know of an older Vanagon westy than my 1980 P27?
I think it says june 1979. the wheels are dated May 79.
the serial no. part of the VIN is: 25A 008223 It's probably not the
oldest out there, but still pretty old.
At any rate, I'm considering selling it. It actually runs and
drives quite well. Has been driven very little in the last several
years.2.0 liter gasoline engine, 4 speed,Cream colered- light yellow?
It's got some light body damage on the RFront corner. But the big
problem is rust. Worst is driver's side lower pandel rusted quite badly
from the utility sockets letting in water. The other side is not much
better and will need rocker repair soon. The mechanicals work well. New
rear Boge shocks, clutch and 74 type muffler. Auxilliary heater, but it
only works sporadically. Probably just neeeds more air flow!I don't
think the Dometic refrig worked at all last time I tried it Interior is
okay, but seat coverings are shot. Top canvas has no holes.
The good part is that it has every single piece it came with (I
believe!), including all paperwork and the window sticker!
I honestly think I could drive this thing anywhere. It uses some
oil, but not bad. (Maybe quart every 4-500 miles.)
I've been going to restore its sheet metal, but just have so many
projects I'd be tempted to sell it. I haven't made up my mind what it is
worth. I'll probably start some patching on it later this year.
