no expert, just my experience. that sounds fairly close to what I had going on and it was the main shaft bearing. mine could be easily heard from under the van, or inside. particularly noticeable when in 1st, 2nd while moving, but the faster I went the more road/wind noise and then the problem noise would get drowned out. sound would disappear when the clutch was in. so, there ya go. bob

My strange almost but not quite a grinding noise is back again.

Not CV related. Is almost impossible to hear underneath the van but is very evident from inside the van. Goes away with clutch in. Does not appear to be rpm dependant. Get about the same vibration rate as the sound if I hold the shifter hard over to make contact with base. Is very evident when first accelerating or decelerating and then disappears.

Have some suspicions but they donšt make sense. Any suggestions appreciated. ....................................... jimt Planned insanity is best. Remember that sanity is optional. http://www.tactical-bus.info (tech info) http://www.westydriver.com
