The cruise controll on my 89 Westy Camper reacts similarily except that it seems to respond more quickly after I've driven more than 10-15 miles. I don't know why but the cruise control seems to engage more quickly after the engine is warmed up. I'm having my engine replaced very soon and hope the cruise control will survive the transition. My old engine developed a clanking rod along with excessive oil usage. Time to replace it. It did make it 170,000 miles which is only fair in my book but I don't know how the previous owners treated it. I hope to make 225,000 in my next engine--another standard Vanagon motor. |
