There are a number of things that must be considered before placing 150 pounds of anything behind your van. I sell a class 3 hitch that will have no problem supporting that load. However, with the load behind the van, ride and handling will be affected. You also need to make the rear suspension and tires are up to the task. That weight behind the van will actually place 200 -250 pounds on the rear axle and lift some weight off the front axle. I will e-mail some info on the hitch.

Hi Volks, Could use some advice. How might I attach a 150 pound (or so) moped to my Van? I have 1984 Vanagon without a receiving hitch and can't find one anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? Or, could someone recommend another way to attach the moped? And, if anyone knows of a specific model of car stereo/cd player/cassette that will fit in my 1984, I would love to hear it. Need to upgrade the sound for sure and lack any sophistication in this area. Diana dcpmsw@aol.com soon to be from Gawdawful cold ... Rochester, MN and on da road...
