I'll concur with Malcolm here in suggesting Westy
travelers stick to the "road less traveled by", (and
not just because we're perhaps the slowest thing on
the highway).

In addition to the ability to go at your own pace,
such roads also generally offer superior scenery,
fewer national-chain restaurants and more mom-and-pop
establishments, and a more 'real' travel experience.

In the course of our Westy trip from southern
Wisconsin to Glacier National Park last fall

we covered over 3800 miles, and I am happy to say that
only 9.7 of those were on Interstate pavement. All the
rest was on everything from transcontinental US Route
highways to smaller county roads to narrow
double-track dirt or gravel.

From previous experience I can say that we saw and
experienced things seldom found on the Great American
superslab.
