Subject: The case of the cracking Alternator Bracket - Solved
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Volks, Our good friend Daryl Christensen of aatransaxle may have solved "The case of the cracking Alternator Bracket. As I previous posted ... I've been thru 5 brackets (4 new) in the past 2 1/2 yrs / 65k miles. Daryl said that around 1988 VW offered a retro-fit additional bracket to resolve this problem. For some reason my 1990 doesn't have this. I'll be ordering one Monday. Details: On ETKA...88 vanagon page 131-15 item 12a Part:Bracket P/N: 025-115-632 Daryl's comments: Going from alt "L" brkt left over to case where long alt adj bracket bolts to with a spot to hold the dipstick tube tight in its middle. Avail from dealer and it really works to hold the L bracket from flexing and either breaking or busting the studs out of the case. larry chase roadhaus.com
