The extra plug is for the center locking indicator on the dash. If you install a de-coupler, the wiring is there for the light.

I've taken out my gas tank, along with the engine and tranny, as part of a Subie conversion project. On the driver side, by the charcoal cannister, I now find there are two identical 2 pin female connectors where the level sensor plugs in. I can't figure out why there are two in this area. One is obviously for the float output, but what else plugs in there?
