Subject: Engine Fire - Suppression System Quote
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

After all the engine fire horror stories, I asked Nautical Fire Suppression Ltd. (www.nauticalfire.com) for a quote on a DIY installation kit for a Vanagon engine compartment assuming that we got 50 folks together (big assumption, I know). Their response:

Thank you for visiting our web site, the following is the requested price for an Aero-K fire system to protect the engine compartments. I have also attached some information.

Each System Includes: 1 - SP-1 Control Panel 1 - G-100 Aero-K Units 1 - Mounting Brackets 13' - Thermal Sensing Cable 1 - Junction Box 12' - Thermal Cable 1 - Warning Sign 1 - Shipping Total Price $ 1,075. US Price based on order of 50 systems. Pre-payment by check or Visa card Delivery 5 weeks.

Prevention (new hoses and clamps) still seems the most cost effective route.

FWIW.
