I remember reading a few years ago that one of the gazillion useful things
that can be made from hemp is a diesel type/compatible fuel. Instead of
outlawing the cultivation of the most useful plant on the planet and paying
farmers not to grow corn, we could encourage production and stimulate a
free-market 'home-grown' fuel- oh wait, what am I thinking? Big Money would
never allow that...
Speaking of Big Money, this business of giving away these military bases is
just another BS handout to the corporate monsters. They've been trying to
characterize the bases as old broken-down eyesores when the reality is that
by their nature (infrastructure, location) and history they are often some
of the most valuable real estate in their areas.
If they wanna give 'em away, they should give 'em to people to cultivate
alternative fuel source plants- then they could build a co-op refinery for
those people to use. Hell, while they're at it, they could license tobacco
farmers to grow hemp instead.
They could, but they won't.
Ok, I'm gonna get down and go shuffle over and sit by John now.
Cya,
Robert

Actually they can use diesel. But calling JP8 diesel would probably be a
stretch with the antifoam, flameresist, all temperature additives, water
absorber, and other stuff that is in JP8. Doesnąt even smell like diesel
any more.
