I run a diesel and a waterboxer but drive the diesel because it's still cheaper.

I'm going to stick my neck and and say that the current price positions are temporary. When summer driving starts and all those gas hogs start rolling, gas will go up.

Demand for home heating oil competes directly with diesel fuel, and not gasoline, because the former come from the same type of crude oil. The long winter in the north cause the demand for heating oil to carry over longer into the spring, so there is less supply for diesel. The supply should increase, and the price should fall, when the double-demand for diesel fuel and heating oil is alleviated by warm weather.

And then there's the fact the we all know it's just so much gouging because the oil companies can do it. The oil that the current prices are based on is still on the tanker, headed our way.

Besides, when there's NO GAS at the pump (I believe we both lived through that didn't we?) you can always go to the grocery store if you just have to get somewhere--if you have a diesel. You can't count out that fear factor for having a diesel, no matter how unrealistic the biodiesel scenario might be for the average person.
