Subject: Re: Looking for stainless steel pop top carriage bolts

Hello,I ordered 2 or 3 sets of 4 from Go Westy.Turns out, the heads of these stainless steel screws were a size smaller than the origional. This made a big difference when installed. The clamping pressure is more concentrated with a smaller screw head. The larger head of the origional spreads this out a lot more, the way VW wanted.Thought, these replacements could easily damage the fiberglass. It did happen.I sent them back.Only $2.95/bag of 4, but I thought Go Westy should be more careful, than offer these. The solution for me was to Por-15 the old ones and paint them origional.I kept the 4 for the luggage rack,as I thought they would be ok.I like the look of both stainless steel and paint. The smaller stainless steel screws jived well with the new westfalia sticker.Roger
