Been playing with cars for a lot of years and I donΉt remember oil in the
bigger boxes since it was in cans.  And then I only remember shell coming
that way.

As for bulk pricing for oil... Here and in other places the only discounts
on oil are for pallet load buys.  Most small shops are paying the same
prices you get at the discount stores for their oil (if bought by the
quart), but they get it delivered.

Back when I worked in various FLAPS we would watch the gas prices and if
they went up for a couple weeks we knew what would be happening about 3
weeks down the road with the rest of oil based product prices in the store.
Motor oil would go up at about the 3 week point by about the same percentage
as the gas prices went up.  Sometimes the jump made synth oil a good buy.
Oil prices effect are now also being felt in the grocery stores as well.
Transportation costs start to hit your stores if fuel prices rise more than
a couple weeks as well.
