There is only 1 oil pressure sensor, on top of the oil cooler mount, and one temp sensor on the driver's side cylinder head. There is not factory installed protection from overheating except for the melting of pistons and valves. There is also an air temp sensor in the AFM. If the thermostat system is in place, the bellows being expanded when cold is a sure sign the engine has overheated.

Hello Listees: For an early '80s AC vanagon, where on the engine would oil pressure (mechanical type, not electric) and temperature senders be installed? Looking at the Bentley, I see the low oil pressure sender on top of the engine, but I assume there are other places to access the oiling system, besides that and the drain plug. Thanks in advance!
