For the same reason that honda doesnΉt like the epa milage stuff. Hybrid is fantastic for around the city but looses back to standard and worse on the open hiway. Honda and some of the other hybrid companies have actually been telling the US gvt that their way of determining mpg is way out of date. Honda was actually worried that they might get sued if they used the gvt rating for hybrid mpg. The gvt is only now considering redoing the test methods. It is already known that many vehicles on the road today are as much as 20 percent over rated in real driving. Beware of the real hybrid mpg in open areas.

The other trick that is now coming to play is the higher horsepower hybrid (toyota) vs the modern diesel (mercedes and VW). The modern deisel is very close match and with the projected biodiesel blends coming on line it will match and exceed with better horsepower and open road capability. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• jimt Planned insanity is best.
