You'd at least want to change the receiver/drier (about $60). If you don't, you'll be mixing incompatible oils and that wouldn't be a good thing. Of course cleaner was run through the system and it was properly evacuated. The compressor was completely removed so that all the "old" oil could be drained from it.

The receiver/drier and the O-Rings is all I changed when I converted from R-12 to R-134. It has gone through 2 summers and 2 winters since and still has its charge and cools reasonably well.
